Biofilms are slimy communities of microbes that shield bacteria from antibiotics and the immune system. Many LLMD regimens add enzymes and other agents to help antimicrobials reach their target.

The regimen

ComponentTypical adult dose
1
Serrapeptase
Dose: Empty stomach, 1–2×/day
2
Lumbrokinase
Stronger fibrinolytic
Dose: Empty stomach, per label
3
N-acetyl cysteine (NAC)
Dose: 600 mg 1–3×/day
4
Cistus incanus tea
Dose: 1–3 cups daily

Duration: Alongside antimicrobials

Key points

  • Enzymes (serrapeptase, lumbrokinase) work best on an empty stomach
  • Enzymes thin the blood; avoid them with anticoagulants or before surgery
  • Cistus tea and NAC are gentle starting points
  • Tinidazole and some herbs (e.g. Banderol + Samento) also have anti-biofilm activity

Biofilm disruption can intensify die-off, so introduce one agent at a time and make sure detox support is in place first.

In the lab, Johns Hopkins researchers found the combination of daptomycin + doxycycline + cefuroxime eradicated biofilm-like Borrelia microcolonies, and several essential oils dissolved biofilm-like aggregates. See Research.

Not medical advice. This protocol is summarized from r/Lyme community FAQ for educational purposes. Doses are for adults; children need different dosing. Discuss any treatment with a qualified, Lyme-literate clinician, who can monitor labs and adjust for your health and medications.
