Privacy policy
Last updated October 7, 2026
Curing Lyme is operated by Potzer LLC ("we", "us"), which runs this website and its mobile apps. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it simple: we collect as little as we can, and we never sell your personal information.
Information we collect
- Browsing the site: you don't need an account to read protocols, research or resources. Like most websites, our server keeps standard logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and troubleshooting.
- Community accounts: if you join, we store your email address, display name, a securely hashed password, and anything you choose to add to your profile, such as the conditions you're dealing with, a short bio, and the protocols you mark yourself as on.
- Your posts and messages: threads and replies you post are public. Private messages are visible only to you and the recipient. Moderators can see a private message only if one of you reports it.
- The Curing Lyme app: if you allow notifications, we store a notification token for your phone so we can tell you about replies and messages. It's removed when you sign out. Private message notifications show who wrote to you, never what they said.
- Safety data: we record IP addresses with sign-ups, posts and login attempts to prevent spam and abuse.
- Cookies: we use one essential cookie to keep you signed in and to protect forms. We also store your theme preference (light or dark) on your device. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used in aggregate. It sets its own cookies.
Health information
Anything you share about your health in public posts or your profile can be seen by anyone. Please use a nickname and avoid sharing details that identify you, such as your full name, address or phone number. Showing your protocols on your profile is optional; you can turn it off in your account settings at any time.
How we use your information
- To run your account and show your posts and profile.
- To send emails you've asked for: account confirmation, password resets, reply and message notifications. You can turn notification emails off in your account settings.
- To keep the community safe: reviewing reports, preventing spam, and enforcing our community guidelines.
We don't sell or rent your personal information, and we don't use it for advertising.
Affiliate links
Some product links go to Amazon through our affiliate account. When you click one, Amazon may set its own cookies and learn that you came from our site. Amazon's privacy policy applies to what happens on their site.
Who we share information with
We use a small number of service providers to run the site: our web host (which stores the site and database), our email provider (which delivers account and notification emails), and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging with Apple's push notification service (which deliver app notifications to your phone). They only process data on our behalf. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect someone's safety.
Your choices
- Edit your profile, notification and privacy settings in your account.
- Delete your account at any time from your account page. This permanently removes your email address, profile, protocol list and private conversations. Your public posts stay in their threads, shown as "Former member", so other people's replies still make sense. If you'd like your posts removed as well, contact us.
- Block any member so you no longer see their posts or receive their messages.
Data retention and security
We keep account information while your account is active. Server logs and anti-spam records are deleted automatically after a short period. Passwords are stored using strong one-way hashing, and the site uses encrypted (HTTPS) connections.
Children
Community accounts are for people 16 and older. Parents and caregivers are welcome to join to discuss a child's care, but please don't share identifying details about children.
Changes
If we make significant changes to this policy, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, let members know.
